Smith & Bresson Club

Smith & Bresson Club
Smith & Bresson Club - I was inspired to create the Smith & Bresson Club for photography by the Pope and Young Club, which is for bowhunters. There are certain requirements, which a bow kill needs to satisfy in order to qualify for acceptance in the Pope and Young Club. The criteria to be accepted in the Smith & Bresson club will be based on my own subjective view of my work, which I will score. In short, those photographs that are part of this club will be my best work and those pieces, which would be part of an exhibition. Any photos that meet this criteria, will be marked by a small skull icon. Public Market

'Public Market' - 1979                                                                                                                                                   snake

FIRST ARCHERY DEER.  I began rifle hunting in 1989 and had many memorable hunts in the Adirondack Mountains, NY.  Then in 1993, a friend convinced me to try bowhunting and after a long season, I finally killed my first archery deer, a nice seven point buck, in December of that year.

I began photography as a junior in high school in 1977.  I didn't know photography until my freshman year at RIT in 1979.  That September, my instructor showed the class the 'decisive moment' photographs of Henri Cartier Bresson.  I had to learn how to shoot in that manner and since September of 1979, I haven't cropped one image and have exhibited only full frame, black and white pictures...'Public Market' being my first.

I haven't hunted with a rifle or shotgun since my first bow kill back in 1993.
